This unit covered classroom management with several areas of key focus including self-presentation, meaning gestures, eye contact and voice, Classroom arrangement and its affects on the grouping of students and group activities, Giving clear instructions, TTT verse STT and building a rapport with students.
While all of the above areas were highly important and beneficial I found the notes on maintaining discipline to be the most enlightening looking at methods of preventing the behavior by remaining calm, setting a good example and focusing on addressing the behavior not the student for example. I also took away a better understanding of the reasons for undesired behavior noting that while many factors such as family problems may be out of my control the way I chose to handle the matter is.
