This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This unit reviewed the different types of books and lesson materials to consider when teaching a class. It’s best to use a mix of authentic materials, such as newspaper articles and brochures, and created materials, such as crossword puzzles and picture stories. Other materials to aid in students’ learning include worksheets, cassettes/DVDs/CDs, dictionaries, resource books, and computers. Furthermore, it’s important for teachers to analyze a course book first for such components as design, methodology, skills, and complementary materials (student workbooks, audio cassettes, etc.) However, instructors should not rely on the book to teach a class. Instead, it is encouraged that teachers omit, replace, supplement and/or adapt book materials to help fulfill a lesson’s content.
