This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This unit was fairly short and covered trouble-shooting in the unit. It brought up useful ways to approach a first class, and offered tips for building a rapport with new students. It discussed a few of the reasons why students might use their native language in class, and offered different methods for dealing with students who are progressing at different speeds. I thought it would have been useful if this unit also offered some scripted interactions that may occur between a trouble-making student and a teacher, but I guess many of the policies for dealing with trouble-makers may be based on the school at which we are working, and as mentioned, there may be a variety of reasons why a student acts out, so it would heavily depend on the body-language as well. This course was very useful! Thanks!
