This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This unit discussed past tenses, their forms, usages, common mistakes/errors, and teaching ideas. I learned that past tense principles will also apply to future tenses. I learned the appropriate form, usage, common mistakes/errors of students, and potential teaching ideas. In addition, I learned that students can be easily confused by past tense forms, either by leaving words out or confusing them with their present tense counterparts.By far the most useful and interesting unit in the course. I especially enjoyed learning about the use of case studies in class - although, from personal experience, students may quickly lose interest in this activity if they don't have appropriate understanding of the required vocabulary. I am not entirely convinced about using Speech Act Theory in class. I suppose it is a useful framework for the teacher, not so much for the student.
