This Unit is about the two receptive skills of language learning, reading and listening. Both of these skills are important in learning languages and everyday use of languages. Reading can allow language learners to review material as much as they need to understand the text. Whereas listening only allows language learners once. Both areas can have areas of difficulties such as unfamiliar words or phrases. It is helpful for teachers to explain necessary words or grammatical patterns to the students before these activities. But the teacher must allow students the chance to figure out the text for themselves and thus should not over explain. This unit is important because it allows teachers to consider the importance and difficulties of these skills and ways to help their students with these skills.
