In unit 7 I learned how to teach new language. The unit explains that vocabulary and grammar shouldn't be taught separately. Though a lesson might focus on one more than the other, they need to be taught together. Both need to be taught based upon certain factors, which mostly focus on the situations of the students. In both teaching vocabulary and grammar, specific aspects need to be taught to the students. To understand vocabulary the students need to know each word's meaning, use, word grammar, how often it's used, and when it should be used. In terms of grammar, the student needs to know the meaning, use, forms and patterns, and how it is spoken versus how it is written. The unit also went over how to teach language functions. Boomerang and patchwork ESA styles are normally suggested for this.
