This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
Phonetics has always been a subject which I've not really looked at. It amazes me how such a subject was put together and how accurate it is when teaching pronunciation. This unit has taught me to read and write phonetically and also how to teach it. The differences in pronunciation and sound in general is vast, however this until has certainly attempted to put good order into a subject, which up until now, I had no comprehension of.This unit was the final section of English grammar, and focused on some more advanced grammatical concepts such as modal auxiliary verbs, (may, can, could, must, etc.) phrasal verbs and their very complicated distinctions, as well as a clear differentiation of the two voices used in English, Active and Passive. While most of these concepts are probably too advanced for my young students, this was a very helpful study-session for me.
