In this unit, I was able to look at different ways to teach receptive skills and what they are. I learned that reading and listening is very important to learning in the classroom and that there are many different ways to do so. We scan, skim, deduce and predict from what we read which makes us take in the different things we want to learn from the texts. There were many examples of how to make comparisons and what grammar to use to do so.Class control is a crucial component of teaching. The knowledge that a teacher has in his head will be of little use if he is unable to deliver that knowledge to his students. A teacher must be able to lead a class and not leave students uncertain. Some might even treat this task like being a performer in front of an audience. This is fine as long as the teacher is not overly dominant which may result in the students not learning anything.
