Lesson plans have a number of important functions: an aid to planning, a working document, a record.
A lesson plan should be simple and flexible. We do not script the lesson, but the lesson plan should have a structure, anticipated time for each activity and all activities should fit together.
A teacher should be organised and check many important things before the start of the lesson.
A good lesson plan should include the following: learner objectives, personal aims as a teacher, language point, teaching aids, anticipated problems, procedures, phases, timing for each activity, interaction, class level, number of students, date/time, teacher’s and observer’s name.
A good teacher will want to monitor the quality of his lessons by evaluating them and making notes on their strengths and weaknesses.
