In this unit I learned about the two productive skills, speaking and writing. The unit also discussed the differences between accuracy and fluency activities. Accuracy activities focus on producing correct language while fluency activities focus on allowing students to be creative and experiment with language. Both are equally important. Examples were also provided for free-speaking creative and controlled activities in the classroom.The two productive skills are Speaking and writing. Straight Arrow ESA lesson aimed at improving the students' writing skills include Engage, study and activate. A typical ESA lesson, which stages are more concerned with accuracy and fluency-- Accuracy during the Study stage and fluency during the Activate stage. Creative writing should be used frequently in the classroom so that the students can use the skills developed effectively.
