The main focus in this unit is the evaluation and testing of students. Here are a number of ways to assess a student's language level; tutorial, test and evaluation by the students. There are many types of tests that the teacher can use to assess his/her learners. These tests are; placement, diagnostic, progress and practice tests. The unit also outlines some general external examinations such as Test Of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), International English Language Testing System (IELTS), Test Of English for International Communication (TOEIC) etc.
From this unit, I have learnt that it is always good to give ongoing feedback so that the students can evaluate themselves. I will always use the various types of tests in order to monitor the progress, the placement and the level of my learners.
