This unit discussed the ESA structure of Engage, Study and Activate. I find this structure to be very effective in my current classroom. It allows students to inquiry into a topic, practice on their own and then take that knowledge and present it in on their own. Allowing students the freedom to make their own connections allows for further understanding and more authenticate understanding of the concept.The techniques for teaching vocabulary, grammatical structures and language functions were very well described. This unit opened my imagination to a variety of activities that could be incorporated into the lesson plans making the reality of teaching seem that much closer. The Straight Arrow, Patchwork and Boomerang techniques will be very helpful as you plan an activity picking which method works best.
