Unit 7 covers teaching receptive skills which are listening and reading. The unit goes over the reasons for reading and listening which are for some sort of instruction or some sort of entertainment. It also covers the ways that we red such as scanning and skimming and using predictive skills, among others. The unit also covers how to avoid some problems with listening and reading by doing things such as pre-teaching vocabulary and carefully selecting texts. Finally this unit covers appropriate topics that should be used, how to create interest in the material, comprehension tasks to evaluate the students skill with the materials, and gives an outline of a lesson involving receptive skills. I personally learned about all of the different ways in which we ingest information through reading and listening.
