In my opinion, learners may encounter more difficulties in learning past tenses than present tenses as some verbs has an irregular past simple form and past participle. Hence, it is important to practice with learners by using different means at study and activate stage. Using flashcard for matching activity is one of the good means to reinforce students' knowledge on irregular verbs, also the practice of journal writing is an other excellent practice for learning past tenses. It is important for teachers to put more efforts in clarifying the differences between past perfect tense and past perfect continuous tense as the two are sometimes confusing.
