In this unit Modals, Passive voice and phrasal verbs were covered. These are grammar rules which I automatically know, but was not aware of the rules. It was hence useful to learn the rules, and to receive ideas on how to teach them. I would have appreciated a more in-depth look as phrasal verbs and how to recognize them and teach them, as even I, an ESL teacher, had difficulty distinguishing the three types of phrasal verbs.The English language can seem simple to a native speaker, but explaining why we choose the words we choose, or where to place those words in a sentence, can be difficult. It is important to understand how we structure sentences in order to teach definitively in the classroom. While the rules are mostly clear, it is also important to understand the nuances of each part of speech, and to make sure the exceptions are understood.
