This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
Tips for teaching beginner students were extremely helpful. As I reflect upon my lessons, I think my students would benefit from using more visuals. I sometimes catch myself using Japanese (my students' mother tongue), so this was a great reminder to remove this habit from my lessons. Instead of the common problem of moving too quickly, sometimes I feel that the curriculum given by the city is too easy for my students. It is a constant challenge to stay on track with the curriculum and the translated version of the lesson plan with my Japanese teachers, as well as create my own materials to match the developmental level of my students. Also, I was wondering about the point on motivation- why is it suggested to focus on what is easy and not what is difficult? Don't students need a challenge in order to improve?
