This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
In this unit, I learned about phonology and pronunciation. This was a fairly challenging unit considering I've never studied the phonetic alphabet before. Although, I found it very interesting to learn how to read and write phonetically. Aside from the phonetic alphabet, I learned how certain letters and words are pronounced and what part of the mouth is needed to do so. This lesson made me stop and think about where exactly I place my tongue when speaking and if I voice a letter or not. I also realized how similar letters and words are. For example, when saying the alphabet, c and z sound almost the same (in the American alphabet), I imagine it's very difficult for non-natives to hear this difference. I also found the poem very interesting, which again made me realize how difficult the English language can be.
