This unit focused on organizing a classroom by grouping students together according to learning level and personalities, by arranging student seating to achieve the best learning environment, and by maintaining an orderly and well disciplined class. I thought it was particularly helpful that it offered many specific examples of how to manage the class, such as not speaking with your back to the students and how to minimize teacher talk time. While watching the video, I became bored and my mind wandered because of so much quiet time while he was writing on the board. I can see how that would happen to the students. I liked the ideas given for minimizing that quiet time, such as preparing the board before class and covering it until needed and writing on the board while the students are engaged in activities.
