This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
Unit 11 focused on receptive skills, reading and listening. The unit covered the many reasons someone may be inclined to read. It could be for informative mesures or just for pleasure. It also went over the types of listening/reading techniques such as scanning and skimming. What I learned from this unit is that using authentic material in the classroom is the best way to boost confidence in the students.I found this unit to be particularly helpful as it stresses the importance of allowing students to sometimes be more creative with more freedom. This is something I will focus on int he future so as not to constantly correct the students.
The list of games given as examples of exercises which can be used in the classroom was extremely helpful as some of these may be particularly useful in smaller classes.
