This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This unit presented two lessons intended to give an example of a poorly taught lesson and a well-taught lesson. The main difference between the lessons was the attitude of the teacher to his students and his material. When the teacher takes the time to relate to the students, smile at them, make them more comfortable then they will respond and learn more effectively. I felt there was still some room for improvement in the second lesson. The examples used by the teacher were not animals the students were necessarily familiar with. It would have helped to use local examples. Also some of the students clearly did not understand the activate activity. More examples of what was required would have helped to clarify what was meant by the teacher. In both lessons a pen that didn't squeak on the board would have helped!
