This unit dealt with some common problem situations in an EFL class. The First Lessons especially with a new group of students require familiarization and rapport establishing to be the focus. Warmer activities should be linked to the Study phase topic and their focus is to motivate and encourage English use among students. Different levels of students could be an existing problem or can develop due to quick learners; possible solutions were covered including materials with extra material for more capable students. Large classes bring to the surface issue of class management; involving students in peer activities such as pair-work, or group work can turn the size into an advantage. Use of native language and ways to deal with them such as encouraging English use and respond only to English. Reluctant students should be involved in peer activities. Finally difficulty with listening texts was discussed.
