Productive skills in the English language: speaking and writing are both equally important. They each have their challenges, such as speaking requires a greater degree of fluency and writing requires a greater degree of accuracy. When we talk about accuracy, the teacher is concerned with correct speaking and with fluency the teacher is concerned with flow of conversation. The teacher can often decided how to lead a speaking based classroom activity by choosing from the following: guided activities, creative communication or controlled activities. When teaching students about writing it is important to keep in mind handwriting, spelling and context (a postcard, a formal letter, or an email).
