This unit discussed the importance of speaking and writing as productive skills, following the last unit with the importance of receptive skills: listening and reading. These skills are all very important in the overall education of a new language and none of them should be neglected due to difficulty or whether it's 'suitable' for a classroom setting. Writing, especially, tends to be the last skill that is focused on or is left for homework, but it should also have some time in the classroom so that students may ask questions or the teacher can help with penmanship. These two skills are necessary in order to communicate successfully and there are many activities to help students practice speaking and writing.
