This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
The purpose of this Unit was to define the two receptive learning skills, listening and reading. It gave an example lesson using the patchwork form demonstrating one possibility of an effective lesson. It also pointed out the importance of balancing lessons between receptive skills - listening and reading with productive skills - speaking and writing. I personally loved how it pointed out the difficulties of the listening skills as when I was learning Italian, I found I could read much easier than I could listen. My comprehension in Italian to this day is still much stronger when I read than when I listen. Listening, for me, takes much more practice and is a skill easier to lose than reading. It is easier to decode reading through patterns and context clues than listening where the words are just \"gone\".
