This unit was an excellent review of parts of speech. I now have a better understanding of grammatical technical terms. I can now more comfortably define parts of speech more precisely to a non-native English speaker. Before reading this unit I had a good grasp on the proper breakdown of a sentence grammatically; however I struggled with articulating my knowledge to students. After reading this I will feel more confident explaining the following grammatical terms: nouns, adjectives, adverbs, verbs, prepositions, pronouns, infinitives, gerunds, articles, and conjunctions. In addition to teaching the previously stated grammatical terms I can also break them down further; for example, I can explain the different kinds of nouns (countable, uncountable, common, proper, compound, abstract, collective, and plurals). In conclusion, I found this unit to be extremely helpful and I feel it will benefit my teaching skills.
