Up until this point, we have seen 4 main types of tenses- simple, continuous, perfect, and perfect continuous. The form for each are very similar for the past, present, and future forms. The future tense uses a few additional forms. The be going + infinitive form is often used for intentions, predictions based on evidence, and plans made before speaking. For example, I am going to work every day this week. We also use to present forms to discuss the future. For example, I leave for Seattle on Sunday. The present continuous form can also be used to discuss the future. For example, I am going to buy you a gift for Christmas.
