This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
I have learned that receptive skills are those skills in which we receive language. The two types of receptive skills are reading and listening and both are equally important. When we read or listen, we do so for two main reasons, either for a purpose or for entertainment. I have noted that learning receptive skills can pose a challenge, therefore a teacher should select suitable materials for the level of the students. It is important for a teacher to select a suitable text to use in a class. The text selected must challenge the students and be manageable at the same time. Also, a teacher should select topics and tasks that interest the students as this will promote full participation. The task the students will complete must be constructed to encourage understanding of the material. The choice of topic is also important because it would be unwise to teach a topic that the students are not interested in.
