In this unit, I reviewed material related to lesson planning. When asking why teachers write lesson plans, there are different opinions on this question?some say that it is better to not plan lessons, as doing so leads to a rigid way of teaching; however, an acceptable level of flexibility is difficult for new teachers in the absence of a plan. The functions of writing a lesson plan include that: it serves as an aid to planning, in regard to the amount of time available for a given class period; it provides a working document to refer to during class; and it provides you with a record of what was accomplished in class.
