In the past classrooms had students set up in rows facing the teacher in the front of the classroom. That is not the case today. Organizing the classroom can have several benefits if done correctly, such as building rapport, encouraging STT, and making the class more intimate. The teacher needs be able to identify when he/she can take a step back and let the students work more effectively. The teacher needs to be and stay in control when or if issues with students arise. It is also important for teachers to not focus too much or too little on certain individuals and try to move at a pace that works with the majority of the class.
