There are four basic areas students need to do to learn a new language which include, be exposed to it, understand it, how to construct with it, and be able to produce a finished product. In the earlier years it is important to focus on vocabulary so the students have enough pieces to build sentences with. Selecting what words to teach will vary from class to class, but no matter what they need to learn what the word means, how to spell it, how to use it, and how to pronounce it. There are many fun activities that can be engaging to students which help them learn vocab which include crosswords and word searches.
