Books and materials are tools used by teachers for the purpose of guidance when teaching students. However some teachers abide by them whilst other teachers despise the use of them because the make the process of teaching rigid and take away the creativity and flexibility. The unit also outlined the use of authentic materials such poems, newspaper articles, song, etc as they stimulate students and help them gain confidence because of their familiarity. This has taught me that for a teacher there is need to create balance between using the books but also leave room for creativity in order the tailor the activity to the students? needs and interests.
