I appreciated the section in this unit that discussed how to effectively use students' names. I hadn't thought about making sure to always end the question with their name--instead of beginning the question with their name. Of course, the reason behind this makes sense, and I think that it really would help students pay more attention. They never can \"zone out\" because they don't know when they'll be asked a question.
I also liked the discussion on pros and cons of grouping students and what is most effective for different scenarios. Where I volunteer, there are students from several different countries and it is always helpful when they group together. This way, they are able to help each other more. The stronger students gain extra understanding and practice as they seek to help the weaker students.
The information on when teachers should be involved and when they should back off was also helpful. I will want to remember and ensure that I am engaged the proper amount in the class.
