This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
Unit two was about the methodologies of teaching. No methodology is best and which one is used can depend on individual circumstances as a teacher including your personality and the culture you are teaching in. The Engage, Study and Activate section was particularly helpful for me because it provided a practical way to plan out a lesson plan. All ESA lessons should usually begin with engage and end in the activate stage. The middle can range from a few different studies and activate stages, as long as it ends with activate. This would be an example of a patchwork ESA lesson, which is a lot of mini sequences that build to a whole. There is also a boomerang lesson which can have multiple activate stages. I also appreciated learning about feedback and when to give it and when not to. Teacher correction should be the last resort, after self correction and student correction.
