Studying this unit has been very encouraging to me in consideration that I have only a short amount of experience in Teaching English as a Foreign Language. What I find most encouraging is the fact that the unit material includes a simple format for lesson planning. I realize that there are many important elements that go into planning.
I find it necessary to get to class at least 20 minutes earlier than the students in order to review the lesson, make sure that the technology is in working order, and to prepare the classroom environment (seating, aids, etc.). I also find it necessary to plan each stage of the ESA lesson in order to make sure that time is utilized efficiently. I also understand from my studies that lesson plans should be flexible in order to account for unplanned student issues when it comes to understanding the language or likewise when it comes to the students enjoying a specific part of the lesson which would be deemed extremely valuable.
