This unit has focused on the conditionals and reported speech. First of all, sentences in the conditional forms contains ?if? or ?when? which indicates events or actions that might occur in the past, present or future. The clauses of this grammatical structure can be separated to two types, which are the ?if? clause and the main clause. Conditions must be fulfilled before an action is done while stating the ?if? clause or the conditions have to be mentioned in the main clause for people to realize. There are five different forms of conditions which are the zero, first, second, third and mixed conditions. Each of the condition has identical forms and usages.
The reported speech is used to report someone?s speaking. Teachers should be aware that students have a clear understanding of how the tense will be changed during the reported speech.
