From this unit I learned that speaking and writing are both equally important in the learning of English as a second language. Often, writing is neglected or relegated to homework assignments by the teacher but given it's significance in helping students to communicate their thoughts, it should be incorporated into the classroom curriculum on speaking and writing. I also learned that students whose first language uses a different writing system may need additional support in forming English letters and words. I think the Straight Arrow ESA lesson would be really helpful in helping students build more confidence and thus skill in both speaking and writing.
