This unit discussed the importance of speaking and writing skills. The first section was about how accuracy and fluency can be practiced using different activities but both are equally important for successful speaking skills. Overall I agree that most people are less concerned with 100% accuracy than a students attempts at speaking fluently. From experience, I believe the most important thing is to create a comfortable speaking environment and encourage the students so they build confidence. When I was learning Spanish as a second language, the most difficult part for me was speaking fluently in front of groups of people. It is best to avoid the student feeling intimidated so they can speak to the best of their ability. In addition to speaking, the most key aspects of writing should be handwriting, spelling and punctuation.
