I have learned a lot from this unit. I did not realize just how many theories and methodologies there are when it comes to teaching english as a first language. i liked how much they differed from each other. From the most basic grammar and syntax, to the more vocabulary based structures, to the more conversational approaches, and even the approaches that use very little structure and more imaginative functions. I learned a lot about the ESA or engage/study/activate teaching approach. This one seems to be the one we will most likely be using and I now see why. I can imagine putting it to use in class. Whether I use the most straight forward tactic, or mix it up and use the patchwork approach. I like the mix of engaging, then looking more closely at the subject matter, then through games and casual structure, activating all that was just worked on. I appreciate all of the the lesson planning tools that the unit suggested for all of the stages.
