It was very interesting to learn about different techniques for teaching writing and speaking. I liked the example of filling in the dialogue bubbles and description boxes of cartoons for beginners. This allows them to write about a very specific scenario. Also, it is a great way for students to practice writing in some of the basic tenses such as present continuous. The parameters laid out in the guidelines for the free speaking activities was helpful. For me, to set up a free speaking activity where I am just an observer can be difficult. Often there is much reluctance for some people to speak. I may get better results by keeping these guidelines in mind when setting up a free speaking activity.
