This unit discusses the methods of teaching English, both the ones used traditionally and what is recommended to be used by a TEFL student. The 3 stages of the ESL method are Engage, Study & Activate.
Engage is a way to warm up a class, in order to reduce student inhibitions and encourage class participation, in a fun manner. This can be done by activities such as word linking, memory game, sentence prompts etc.
The Study phase consists of worksheets and activities that focus on language construction,verbs, pronunciation and spellings.
The Activate stage focuses on fluency rather than accuracy. Activities include role playing, debates, story building etc.
