This unit was very helpful for learning about the intricacies of teaching receptive language skills and preparing materials to that same end. The first part of this lessons concerned differentiating between different aspects of perceptive language skills, in this case being: scanning (looking for one specific piece of info), skimming (looking for the general idea), reading or listening for a purpose, and reading or listening for detailed information. The second part stressed the importance of preparing materials that were applicable to the students, varied, and related to the content of the lesson.
