Due to my experience when I was a student and after reading this unit, we can say that pronunciation is one area of teaching which is often neglected, probably due the fact that it is perceived to be difficult. However, it is an area in which learners need guidance. We all know that English is not a phonetic language, which means that looking at the written word often doesn?t help students say it. Therefore, by helping students to understand and become familiar with the phonemic chart, we are giving them an indispensable tool in helping to make their communication intelligible. One of the resources that has been very helpful to me is using the dictionary not only to understand the meaning but also to learn the pronunciation.
