I think it is important to focus on reading and listening skills when teaching another language. People learn differently. Some will acquire language more through listening, and others mostly through reading. This is why it is important to mix up activities; using some which require listening skills, and others which require reading skills. It was useful to learn about the different motives for reading. I think that with more advanced students it is important to provide materials which encourage them to read for both a purpose, and for entertainment. I think it is also important these students both read and listen for the gist, to develop predictive skills, for details and to deduce meanings from words or phrases in a context.
