This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This unit introduced the different types of materials that can be used in the classroom. There are authentic materials and non-authentic materials. Authentic materials are produced for a purpose other than the classroom, whereas non-authentic materials are produced to be a teaching aid.
A lesson plan is a very useful working document for the teacher. It shows what should happen during the lesson. On the one hand, it helps to keep on target and it gives something to refer to. On the other hand, it acts like a record showing what has been done and what material has been used. It should include the date and time of lesson, level, room, expected number of students, context of the lesson, learner objectives, outline of the lesson focusing on the different phases and timings. It is however important to bear in mind that a lesson plan is just a plan and the teacher should be flexible and be able to adapt depending on what happens in the lesson.
