This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
In this unit modal auxiliary verbs, passive voice, relative clauses, and phrasal verbs were discussed. Teaching ideas, in particular for the modals such as role play and guessing the meaning of signs, were especially helpful. In terms of the passive voice, I wondered if students in particular cultural settings would have difficulty speaking or writing in an active versus passive voice. That is, I wondered if there are cases in which a native language favors a predominantly passive or predominantly active voice. Finally, I found that I had difficulty grasping phrasal verbs and could see how this aspect of grammar would be difficult for students to master and quite difficult to teach.
