This unit discusses preparation for class. It talks about lesson planning, which serves several purposes including setting objectives for what the students will learn during the lesson, helping to keep the teacher on target to achieve that objective, and keeping a record of what the students have accomplished. A lesson plan is not a script for exactly what will be said in class, but rather a guideline that provides structure for what will be reviewed and the activities involved in the lesson. The lesson plan includes many pieces of information, including the learner objectives, teaching aids, anticipated problems, learning phase, time duration of each activity, class level and interaction tracking (for example, teacher-student or student-student).
