This unit covered the teaching of productive skills, which include speaking and writing. The unit demonstrated that both skills are of equal importance. It also explained the difference between accuracy and fluency-based lessons and how they are both of equal importance as well. The part of this unit that I found useful was where it explained how to encourage speaking in the classroom, especially motivating students who are afraid of speaking in class. I feel that this is a common problem that ESL teachers have and being able to overcome those hurdles is essential in helping the students learn properly.
