Unit 13 covered teaching pronunciation and phonology. I learned the different pattern of intonation and their meanings, techniques to indicate and teach intonation, techniques for indicating and teaching stress in sentences, the IPA; the International Phonetic Alphabet, etc. I gained also knowledge about articulation and different teaching techniques for pronunciation of individual sounds. For me, this unit was the most complex unit, since I have never really learned the phonetic alphabet. While reading through the unit I read that most English teacher avoid teaching this topic, what I just can confirm. In all the years learning English, not even one of my many English teachers made the effort to teach the IPA. That made my decision at least to try to be a better teacher.
