The lesson was focused on the teaching of productive language skills, which are speaking and writing. Student anxiety about producing language were addressed, and the following methods were recommended to help students overcome any nervousness they feel about producing language: pair-work, group-work, lots of practice, interesting topics, cultivating classroom dynamics that encourage participation, plenty of time for student preparation. The difference between fluency (which focuses on students using language to communicate effectively) and accuracy (correct use of grammar and vocabulary when speaking or writing) were also addressed, with the main points being that, while both are equally important, they are best addressed with different techniques.
