EFL teaching methodology and lesson plan design can come in many shapes and sizes. There is no one \"right\" or \"wrong\" technique but rather a series of options available to use depending on class composition, teacher preference, experience and comfort level and materials or time at hand. What IS important is to undersgtand the concept of the three stages of interacting with language during a lesson...Engage, Study and Activate. While it is almost always best to first make sure that students are engaged and receptive to the lesson, after that has been accomplished it is up to the teacher to steer the lesson (which does NOT mean always taking a \"Controller\" role!) as he/she feels best.
